The official residence of the president of India stands at the opposite end of the Rajpath from India Gate. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, it combines western and eastern style and has a large court in front and a Mughal style garden at the back. The garden is open to the public recently. A huge copper dome lends the Indian touch. Nearby, the Parliament House has a domed, Circular central hall and three semi-circular buildings, which houses the chambers of the Lok Sabha (Lower House) and Rajya Sabha (Upper House). A verandah with 144 columns surrounds the three meeting chambers inside
